Velsao locals intensify protest against RVNL

Vasco: Velsao villagers have pledged to fight for their right of way and have decided to intensify agitation against the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), if they fail to fulfill their demands.
The panchayat body on Monday convened a meeting of the villagers with RVNL to discuss the illegal dumping of mud in front of their ancestral houses, thus blocking their right of way.
The villagers said that “RVNL’s illegal dumping of mud in front of their gates has made it difficult for them to move out mortal remains of kins for conducting final rites”.
“The villagers have asked RVNL to remove illegal dumps of mud from their houses. Railways must stay away from our houses. The matter is sub judice and will be heard on Feb 28,” social activist Orville Dourado Rodrigues told TOI.
