Hyderabad: Telangana was announced as host of the 72nd Miss World Festival, from May 7, with the final on May 31 when the new Miss World will be chosen. It will bring contestants from over 120 countries to experience Telangana’s blend of tradition and modernity.
The previous editions were held in Delhi and Mumbai. The Miss World Organisation chose Telangana for its rapid development, cultural richness, and global appeal. The event will be used to highlight the state’s handlooms, arts, cuisine, and industries, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and film.
Julia Morley, chairperson and CEO of Miss World Limited, expressed excitement about the collaboration, and spoke about Telangana’s hospitality and commitment to ‘Beauty with a Purpose.’ Tourism secretary Smita Sabharwal welcomed the event as an opportunity to present the state’s deep-rooted heritage and forward-looking vision to the world.
A statement said the government saw the festival as more than a beauty pageant; it saw an opportunity to showcase Telangana’s warmth, progress, and cultural wealth.
