Vijayawada: Minister for labour Vasamsetti Subash on Thursday announced that the state government was contemplating to set up an ESI dispensary in every district headquarters in the state.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat here, the minister said their government accords top priority to safety, welfare and health of workers and accordingly, it would sanction 18 dispensaries in addition to the existing 78 dispensaries in the state.
He said that their government also targeted to enhance the I.P. Holders (Insured Persons) to 30 lakhs in a year and added that they had sent proposals to the director of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation to enhance bed strength in the ESI hospital in Tirupati to 100 from 50 so that 97 regular posts and 94 outsourcing posts would be sanctioned.
The minister announced that they had set up a mobile ICU in the Visakha Pharma City with the funds mobilised through corporate social responsibility for the benefit of workers.
The labour minister made it clear that they would not tolerate any laxity on work and accordingly, five doctors and four outsourcing employees were suspended during his visit to the ESI hospital in Rajamundry recently and said that after their suspension, the number of people visiting the out-patient ward had gone up to a maximum of 170 from less than 50.
He appreciated the doctors at ESI hospital in Tirupati where the average registration of patients at OP was nearly 350.
