Nagpur: The American Oncology Institute (AOI), in collaboration with Nangia Specialty Hospital in Nagpur, has introduced a new Gallium generator for advanced cancer detection. Starting January 2025, the Nuclear Medicine department at AOI Nagpur will offer Gallium-based PET CT scan services. These scans are designed to detect cancer at a molecular level, improving the accuracy of diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning.
These services include specialized options tailored to various cancer types. The PSMA PET CT scan is designed for prostate cancer detection, while the DOTA PET CT scan aids in identifying neuroendocrine tumors (rare growths that develop in hormone-producing cells).
The FAPI PET CT scan is ideal for detecting cancers with mucinous, serous, or signet ring cell histology, such as stomach and ovarian cancers. Additionally, the Pentixafor PET CT scan is used to diagnose low-grade lymphoma, MALToma, and multiple myeloma, and the Exendin PET CT scan focuses on detecting insulinoma.
Dr. Rohit Kakde, Senior Consultant in Nuclear Medicine, AOI Nagpur shared the significance of this development, “Gallium-based PET CT scans enable us to detect cancer at its earliest stages by visualizing it at a molecular level. This ensures not only an accurate diagnosis but also precise treatment planning tailored to each patient’s needs.”
Dr. Hrushikesh Phate, Zonal Director, Central East Region, AOI Nagpur, added, “With the addition of Gallium generator technology, AOI Nagpur is now equipped to deliver the most advanced diagnostic services available globally. This initiative represents a major milestone in our mission to provide world-class oncology care in Central India.”
This initiative marks a significant advancement in diagnostic services for oncology in Central India, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to integrating modern technologies into cancer care.>
