Warangal: Bhupalpally police have registered an FIR against five individuals in connection with the murder of Nagavelli Rajalinga Murthy who is known for his legal battle against corruption. The accused named in the FIR are Renkuntla Sanjeev, Pingili Srimanth, More Kumar, Kothuri Kumar, and Renukuntla Komuraiah.
The murder occurred on Wednesday evening, when Murthy, 53, was attacked while riding his bike in Reddy Colony at around 7:30 pm. Armed with knives, the assailants severely injured Murthy. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival .
Murthy had gained significant attention for his fight against corruption, particularly his legal challenges against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister T. Harish Rao. He had accused them of corruption related to the construction of the Medigadda barrage under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
The FIR against the accused has been filed under sections 191(2), 191(3), 61(2), 126(2), and 103(2) read with 190 of the BNS.
