Philips showcases new AI-Powered Imaging Technologies at AOCR 2025, ET HealthWorld

Chennai: At the 23rd Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR) 2025 in Chennai, Royal Philips showcased a range of medical imaging technologies, including its AI-enabled CT 5300 system and its helium-free 1.5T wide-bore MRI systems.

These advancements reflect ongoing efforts to address long-standing challenges in healthcare, such as helium supply and staff shortages. The new MRI system utilizes BlueSeal magnet technology, which significantly reduces the need for helium, addressing one of the most common issues faced by healthcare providers.

With only 0.5 per cent of the helium typically required by traditional MRI systems, this innovation helps hospitals move toward more sustainable and reliable operations.

The CT 5300, which integrates artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic confidence and workflow efficiency, is designed for use across various clinical environments. It offers a blend of high-speed imaging and low radiation exposure, making it a versatile tool for diagnosing conditions in cardiology, oncology, neurology, and emergency care. The introduction of AI-powered features such as AI reconstruction and motion correction aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy while streamlining procedures.

In addition to the MRI and CT systems, Philips displayed other advanced imaging technologies, such as the SmartSpeed MRI, which accelerates image acquisition, and the MR 7700, a 3T MRI system designed to handle complex clinical and research applications.
Another notable system was the Spectral CT-7500, a dual-layer CT scanner that enhances image clarity by separating different energy levels, enabling more accurate identification of pathologies. These innovations are part of a broader trend in medical imaging toward greater efficiency, precision, and automation, driven by the integration of artificial intelligence.

Philips also highlighted its ultrasound offerings, including the EPIQ Elite and Affiniti Ultrasound systems, which combine high-quality imaging with improved workflow and diagnostic capabilities. The advancements showcased at AOCR 2025 reflect the growing role of AI and automation in transforming medical imaging, with the potential to improve diagnostic accuracy, patient outcomes, and healthcare efficiency across the globe.
